Duct Heaters

Duct heaters are commonly used in commercial, industrial, and residential applications. They’re used to heat the air or gas flowing through a duct system. Typically installed within the ductwork of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Design

All our duct heaters are made to customer requirements using data-driven design, matching power to airflow, the temperature required and sheath temperature.

Before we begin the manufacturing process of your custom duct heater, you’ll receive an assembly illustration to approve. Get in touch to arrange a design consultation and discuss your requirements.

Materials

Duct heaters consist of an electric heating element, such as coils or strips, enclosed within a protective housing. Elements used vary between Incoloy 800, stainless steel 304 and 316. They’re secured with brass or stainless steel compression fittings into stainless steel sheet metal work.

Our duct heaters can be integrated with a busbar in stages with overheat cutouts and thermostats or thermocouples for better distribution and control.

The photograph shows a full duct of only 30Kw. The relatively large  number of elements used was to keep the sheath temperature low  enough to prevent melting of particulates in the air flow.

Applicaitons

We can supply heaters for air temperatures up to 600°C (1,112°F), providing a broad range of applications. Our duct heaters can be used for temperature control in large office buildings or to help aerospace companies apply heat to regulate the fueling of spacecraft.
If your needs require an especially high-wattage output, this may have to be made using separate modules.

Other applications include uses in drying ovens, paint-drying, process machinery, dehumidifiers, grain dryers and more.
